Heart, Grow, Inspiration

Write down the first words that comes to mind when we say . . .

. . . home.   Heart

. . . soil.   Grow

. . . rain.  Inspirationsnoopy and the rain

Use those words in the title of your post.

Yesterday around 4:30 a brief storm hit us here in SC. I took pictures and was amazed at how quickly it hit and how dark the sky became, but how inspired I was…

feel the rainI was sitting at my computer reading FB and a friend of mine began talking about a storm that was coming and BEWARE we’re all going to get wet. (He’s such a great guy, and I always smile when I read his posts. He and his wife are such wonderful people and I look forward to reading what he writes every day.) I pull back the curtain at the window right by my desk and lo’ and behold, the sky has gone completely grey and you can see that is about to storm. The wind was blowing so hard the trees were dancing and I could hear the wind outside of my closed window. So I grab my camera and go out onto the porch to see if I can get a few pictures. I love it when it rains, it inspires me or it makes me want to take a nap, depends on my mood. Yesterday I was watching my 6 month old grandson so I felt inspired…Watching him sleep, his angelic face, while it stormed outside made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside–he didn’t sleep long though.

I stood on the porch and took a few pictures, happy that I could see things from a different perspective, and hoping that my pictures would turn out decently. I managed to create an extremely short video of my trying to get situated to take the first picture. (LOL). As I looked around, I saw the brown, dead grass in our yard, I saw my poor plant that is dying and grabbed it and placed it on the bottom step so it could get some of that much needed rain water.

dancing in the rainAfter I went back inside I began thinking about how happy I am that I am able to watch my grandson while my daughter goes to her study group for one of her classes for college, how proud of her I am that she is in her last semester and she’ll be receiving an Associate’s degree. I also missed my husband and was thinking about how much I’d have liked to have had him standing beside me on the porch as I watched the storm come in and the rain…There are a lot days when going on the road with him sounds like the plan. I would love to be able to do that. Hopefully, he’ll find a company that will allow me to go on the road with him. (He’s a truck driver.)

I looked out of the window by my desk again and began thinking about how I’d like to start a garden this spring. I would love to grow a garden. Get my hands in the soil, plant squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini… I’ve never had my own garden before and I would really like to. It’s on my Bucket List actually.

I listened to the rain and went back to writing, feeling really happy about the day, my life, my family, my writing, and the pictures I’d taken (which turned out well enough that I didn’t do any editing, though later I might).
