Ready, Set, Go

24 Jan

DP ChallengeSet a timer for ten minutes. Open a new post. Start the timer, and start writing. When the timer goes off, publish.

I began the day in pain. Severe pain, but once I got up and began moving around I felt a little better. I made some coffee, and of course, after that first cup I immediately felt awake, but not quite ready to tackle the things I needed to tackle today.

Then my daughter, her boyfriend, and their beautiful son showed up. It’s moving day for them, and Mimi is watching him while they move into their new place. I’m excited for them. Seeing my grandson’s beautiful face always puts me in a better mood. It’s like when my husband smiles at me or I hear him laugh…it’s really the small things that make you the happiest. So now as I sit at my computer typing for the ten minutes for this challenge, I’m reminded of how sweet life can be, even when you’re in pain, or stressed, or a bit depressed, or just having one of those days…

Sometimes it is the smallest of things that brings a smile to your face. I’m excited about seeing their new place. I’m happy that my daughter is so excited. And I’m thankful that my son is helping them. We all had breakfast this morning. My daughter knew I was in pain and cooked breakfast for all of us, while MiMi watched the baby 😀 He’s a handful but he has such a happy-go-lucky personality already. If he’s whining or crying or frustrated and you laugh he will laugh with you.

I’m also happy about the wireless booster that my daughter’s boyfriend hooked up for my computer (well, actually the household). Now my internet is so much faster. Right now I am doing laundry, the kitchen is clean, the baby is sleeping, and I am having my 3rd cup of much needed coffee. And I took one of the lightweight pain killers they gave me (the Motrin 800 mg) so that I can function but I won’t be groggy or woozy since I have the baby. Not a good idea to be doped up on pain killers when you’re a grandmother watching your only grandson….Not a good idea at all. I can manage the dull ache for a while so I can spend time with Mr. Viktor, my little man.

Okay, my ten minutes or up. I guess I talked about what is right there on my mind…and surprisingly enough I didn’t go off on too many tangents. My kids would be proud.
