We had a friend who used to say that all the time, “It’s all about the love,” and now that’s it’s the day after Valentine’s Day there are many people who are either praising their significant other or complaining… Personally, if you’re not showing your love 365 days a year, one day is NOT going to make a difference. Like I said in my post Cupid’s Arrow, before Mr. Rockstar I did NOT do holidays. But he’s a romantic, and it is a bit contagious, and I remember long ago being a romantic…The memories hadn’t completely faded–I vaguely remembered believing in romance before him, but with him it is all so different.
So last night I was all excited because I’d managed to get him a big box of assorted chocolates and I’d written him a new poem and printed it, and I had it waiting for him. He arrived with chocolate, a red rose, a card, and a bottle of wine for me. WHOA!!! Wooo Hooo!!!!!
I was so excited. Since we’re going out tonight with friends and we’ll be eating dinner (they have this steak and shrimp special on Friday nights), so last night I just made a regular dinner (hot dogs with chili, big fat french fries–what people now call steak fries, cole slaw, and baked beans). After dinner we put in the movie, Mr. Rockstar opened the wine, and he put the poem I wrote him in a frame and put it on his dresser. 😀 He loved it. We had some chocolate, we watched the movie, drank our wine, and had an extremely romantic evening. What was the most amazing part of it was that he and I spent quality time together. And I think that is what it’s really about. We didn’t buy each other expensive gifts, or do anything spectacular like go to the opera or bungee jumping or white water rafting…Though I suppose we’ll do that sooner or later, for now though we’re content just being together–We’re still newlyweds.
So as I type this I’m trying to figure out what I’ll wear tonight, since it is date night and I want to look especially nice. Hope everyone has a great Friday evening!
