Day 25 Someone who fascinates me…

Day 25 – Someone who fascinates you and why.

Stephen King fascinates me. He’s been my favorite author since I was ten years old and read his book “Salem’s Lot.” The book fascinated me. I couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter. Each chapter left me wanting more. When I finished the book I wanted to know what else happened. It couldn’t end there!

Later on, “Salem’s Lot” would become a small piece of a much bigger story, The Dark Tower, one of my favorite series of all time. I just wrote about my favorite book, but this is more about the author, and why he fascinates me.

I have almost ever Stephen King book published. I even have a few first editions from way back.

King began writing as a kid, published his own little magazine/newspaper way back when he was still in school, and kept on keeping on. He took his nightmares and made them work for him, literally. He tried his hand at teaching, but he was meant to be an author. He’s a writer who speaks to the reader. He draws you into the story. I’ve felt that way about his books since I was ten. I felt like I was in the story. Still feel that way.

I enjoy other writers, like James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Anne Rice, Robert Jordan, Poe, Shakespeare, Hemingway, Vonnegut, Flannery O’Connor, Twain, etc…but King will always be my favorite.

I just finish reading “On Writing” and I really enjoyed it. It was the first King book I read in some time. I had only read “The Body” and “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption.” 🙂

I have re-read all of those quite a few times, one of my favorite movies is “Shawshank Redemption,” but my favorite books by King are his Dark Tower series, and, of course, “The Stand,” “The Shining,” …I’m going to stop there, lol!
