Quality time with family was needed

24 Mar

I’ve spent most of the entire weekend completely away from the computer. I needed a break evidently because Mr. Rockstar, my daughter, and grandson, as well as my son (for brief periods) decided they were all in need of Lissa time. Friday evening we stopped and picked up a few pizza’s and not long after we got home from picking them up, as well as a few odds and ends from the grocery store, my daughter showed up in our driveway with my beautiful grandson in tow and we proceeded to have family night.

Watching a movie, any kind of movie with an 8 month old around is near to impossible. We weren’t paying enough attention to him, his toys were not appealing but growling and making all kinds of noises so we noticed him “not playing” with his toys was appealing. So we stopped the movie after about 15 minutes of trying to watch it over little Mr. Viktor’s 8 month old ranting and raving, and just played with the baby and talked. Mr. Rockstar fell asleep in the recliner, I took a brief nap in the recliner but woke up to find my grandson asleep in his pack-n-play and my daughter in the guest bedroom lying on the bed reading a book. So I went to bed to read a book myself. I briefly thought about getting on the computer but the pack-n-play was set up in the dining room near my desk and I did not want to wake him up.

An hour later my daughter is asleep and little Mr. Viktor woke up so I got up and checked on him. I changed his diaper, loved on him for a little while, rocked him and told him stories. His mom needed at least a little sleep but since she is breast feeding there’s only so much I could do. After giving a very sleepy but hungry little man to his mother, this grandmother headed back to bed.

Saturday we had lunch, after a morning filled with playing with little Mr. Viktor, and then we (me, Mr. Rockstar, my daughter Ria, and my grandson Viktor) went to Wally World (Walmart for those of you who aren’t stateside or just don’t know the nickname) to have the oil changed in my car, then we headed to Auto Zone to pick up the headlight for my car, and then to the grocery store. Once we were finally back home, Ria and little Mr. Viktor get ready to go back home–they have dinner plans with little Mr. Viktor’s dad–their family time. Mr. Rockstar and I picked up two bottles of wine and I made dinner. Shrimp and pasta, with veggies, and garlic bread. Delicious.

a good life how blessed you are

We finally watched the movie, and then another, and by then we’ve both had about a bottle of wine each and I’m too sleepy and too tipsy to write, nor did I really want to disrupt the quality time that we both needed.

The whole time I was away from the computer I kept thinking about things I could write about. My “smart” phone alerted me that I had comments to moderate, which I did. And I won an award while I was taking my much needed break from the computer–the Dragon’s Loyalty Award. I feel so proud and blessed. I wasn’t in need of a break from writing or from blogging, but my loved one’s and myself were in need of some quality time, thus the break.

While I was in Walmart I picked up a couple of the paint color samples, I use them on my cork board/inspiration board like index cards–they stand out more than the colored index cards and them come in all kinds of fun colors.

So now I’m about to get started on yesterday’s prompt Local Flavor, and then I will start on today’s prompt. I’ll be participating in the April’s CampNaNoWriMo so I guess I’ll have to figure out some sort of schedule for my writing. 😀

I too had a weekend like this! It’s so important to step away sometimes to simply get a fresh perspective. Good luck with your writing!
