Five a Day

Today’s Daily Prompt Five a Day You’ve being exiled to a private island, and your captors will only supply you with five foods. What do you pick?

I’ve been preparing for CampNaNoWriMo and part of the theme is that you’re camping for 30 days and during that 30 days you’re given the chance to write your novel. I’m in a cabin with a few others (figuratively speaking) but I’m actually at home in my dining room that has been converted to my study. People have taken this whole figuratively camping thing seriously and some are even camping out in their bedrooms or maybe their backyard or their living room or where ever they fancy. I’m camped out in the dining room/study. I’ve stocked up on important essentials such as coffee, half & half, Splenda, Dark Chocolate Pirolouine’s (I think that’s how you spell it–those wafer stick looking things that have delicious goodies inside and are so wonderful with coffee), yogurt, bagels and cream cheese, salad stuff, and I’ll be picking up a few other odds and ends like baby carrots and celery and some more crunchy peanut butter, as well as some breakfast bars, trail mix with fruit, etc. I prefer to have healthy snacks but chocolate and coffee are a must.

So now I’m going to take this a step further and assume I’ve been captured (maybe by pirates) and I’ve been exiled to a private island somewhere of the coast (of where I don’t know). And why I’ve been captured I am still not sure of yet. They are supplying me with only five foods and I need to choose which five foods. Hmmm…

So let’s see I need COFFEE (and I’m thinking that all the things that go with are included with that, at least in my mind they are). I’ll need some type of protein so I’m thinking fish or chicken, since I’m exiled on a private island somewhere I should be able to catch my own fish or some type of seafood so I’ll choose chicken. I’ll also need some veggies. The island should have some kind of berries at the least but maybe I’ll get lucky and it’ll also have some edible vegetation.  I’m going to choose sweet potatoes because they are absolutely delicious and one of my favorite foods, as well as spinach and tomatoes. So how many is that?

  1. coffee
  2. chicken
  3. spinach
  4. tomatoes
  5. sweet potatoes

WOW! I didn’t have enough room to choose chocolate, guess it’s a good thing I always keep some stored in my bag :D, as well as a composition notebook and pen that way I’m not bored and I will just hand write my novel. Only I’m thinking, there just might be a new novel in the works after this experience. Now it’s time for me to get another cup of coffee. I have a lot to do today and only one of me to get it all done.
